Airport Procedures

At the Airport

To ensure your journey is a smooth one, please check that you read the latest airport and airline regulations about what you can and cannot carry on board the aircraft.

Make sure that you have all the documents (visas, valid identity document, boarding passes, official documents for medicines, or other items, etc.) required to enter in the destination country before arrive at the airport and that they are not expired. It is important to have them under control and don’t lose any document.

Passengers should know if from Malpensa they are travelling to a Schengen/non-Schengen areas, USA, Canada or other destinations with different regulations)

It is strongly recommended to arrive with enough time at the airport to avoid any unforeseen situation.

Hand baggage

Each airline has their own policy regarding the amount of hand baggage allowed on their aircraft and we strongly recommend that the information regarding this is sought directly from the airline before travel.

In general, there are limitations about the weight and luggage measures. Normally there is a maximum of 5kg and bags mustn’t exceed 55x40x20 cm.

For unusual bags, ask to the airport staff.

There are several items banned to carry in the hand baggage:

- Toy weapons

- Slings

- Cutlery

- Knives or sharp objects

- Scissors and cutters

- Syringes

- Razor blades

- Darts

- Sewing needles

- Ski poles

- And similar objects

For banned items to carry in the hold baggage as explosives, poisonous substances, compressed gases, among others, get in contact with the airport ENAC on the hotline number (+39) 800 89 81 21.

Liquids

Passengers may carry small quantities (maximum of 100 ml per container) of liquids, gels, creams and aerosols in the cabin of the aircraft.

These containers may only be carried in a transparent reusable plastic bag that does not exceed 18 x 20 cm.

The envelope cannot be put in the hand baggage. Each passenger can carry only one envelope.

Large electrical items / Laptops

Laptops and other complex items of electrical equipment have to be removed from hand luggage and screened separately.

Medicines and Baby Foods

Passengers will also be allowed to carry in their hand luggage medicines and dietary requirements including baby foods to use during the flight.

After Security Shopping

The goods bought after security control will be sealed into a transparent plastic bag with cash slip. Passengers must not open them till its destination.

Do Not Forget - Before the airport

Before your arrival at Malpensa Airport, make sure you have a valid passport (and visa where necessary) for your trip.

Many authorities require a valid passport for at least six months from the time you fly.
