Vueling 320-200

A Vueling 320-200, registration EC-HQL performing flight VY-6394 from Barcelona to Milan Malpensa Airport was forced to take emergency action when a vehicle strayed onto the runway yesterday evening.

The aircraft with 130 passengers on board was only metres from the ground when the crew spotted the vehicle on the centre line of runway 35 left.

The pilot was forced to apply power and initiate an emergency go-around narrowly avoiding a collision with the vehicle.

The airplane landed safely on their second approach minutes later.

Police stopped the car and took the driver of the vehicle into custody. An investigation by ENAC into the vehicle incursion incident is now underway. Visibility at the time of the incident was reported to be good.
