US Airways will suspend its daily scheduled transatlantic services between Milan Malpensa Airport and Philadelphia this winter but said the suspended flights would return next year.
US Airways already follows this type of schedule planning on several other Philadelphia European routes, suspending flights with lighter traffic over the winter, and then restarting up again in the spring.
The American carrier will adjust its capacities due to the decline in demand over this period to avoid operational losses in the winter months which, in turn, would eliminate any profit generated over the peak summer months.
