Easyjet revenues and passenger numbers increase.

Easyjet is forecasting a ’substantial’ improvement in full-year profit as revenues and passenger numbers increase at Milan Malpensa Airport and other European stations.

The bulk of the increase in passengers came from airports such as Milan Malpensa, Madrid Barajas and Paris Orly.

First quarter revenues rose 10.5% to €698m, while passenger numbers jumped by 9% to 11 million.

Easyjet said it managed to operate 90% of its flights in December, despite bad weather which closed some airports.

Chief executive Andy Harrison said underlying business in the first quarter had been “encouraging”.

However Mr Harrison, who leaves the company in June, said Easyjet faced “a tough trading environment”.

The company said the number of its passengers from outside the UK increased by 20% in the first quarter to 54%.

Easyjet’s load factor, which shows how full its planes are, grew by 2.4 percentage points to 85.8%.

EasyJet New Online Check-in For Malpensa

EasyJet today launched an online check-in facility for Milan Malpensa Airport passengers with hold baggage. The airline has allowed passengers travelling with hand baggage from Malpensa to check in online for some time, but now passengers with hold baggage also have the opportunity to do so.

The new service enables Milan Malpensa passengers to check in online and then simply take their cases to the bag drop point in Terminal 2 at the airport along with their online check-in boarding card. This new process makes for a faster, less stressful airport experience.

Whilst easyJet passengers are likely to find online check-in a much more convenient and more attractive process, the airline will continue to offer the standard check-in desk facility at the airport, there will be no charge for either online check-in/bag drop or the existing airport check-in process.
