Cathay Pacific to increase Milan Malpensa flights to daily

Cathay Pacific Airways have announced that, subject to government approval, it will increase the frequency of its Milan Malpensa Aiport service from four flights a week to daily from 1 July 2011 in response to strong demand.

Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Tony Tyler said: “Demand to and from Milan Malpensa has been very encouraging since we launched the route in March last year and we are pleased to be able to strengthen the service and offer more choice to our passengers. We are also taking the opportunity to add capacity on a number of other routes that will further boost connectivity through Hong Kong, one of the world’s leading international aviation hubs.”

Cathay Pacific Launch Milan Malpensa

Cathay Pacific Airways will launch 4 weekly non-stop flights from Milan Malpensa Airport to Hong Kong from March 28, 2010.

The flagship carrier of Hong Kong, will operate 4 flights a week on mondays, wednesdays, fridays, sundays with Boeing B777/300ERs

Cathay Pacific’s Malpensa Hong Kong flight will leave Hong Kong at 0.05 a.m. and reach Milan Malpensa at 7.35 a.m. The flight will leave Milan Malpensa at 13.25 p.m. and arrive at Hong Kong at 7.00 a.m.

The Boeing 777-300ER will form the backbone of Cathay Pacific’s long-haul fleet, with 23 being delivered by 2011. This highly efficient aircraft will be used to enhance the airline’s services on the Milan Malpensa Hong Kong long-haul route.

Cathay Pacific began flying to Italy in April 1986 when it launched a service to the capital city, Rome. The airline currently operates a daily passenger service to Rome and a six-times-weekly freighter service to Milan Malpensa, and will offer a total of 11 passenger flights to and from Italy each week when Milan Malpensa launches as a passenger destination. The city will become the 47th online destination in Cathay Pacific’s passenger network.

Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Tony Tyler said, “We are very excited to launch a new service to this dynamic city, and we expect it to help Milan to develop quickly as a prime destination for business and leisure travellers from this part of the world. This is the only direct service between these two major commercial cities and our strong network will enable us to offer great connections for travellers from northern Italy through the superb Hong Kong hub.”
