Air China direct flight from Milan Malpensa to Beijing

China’s leading international airline Air China have announced the first and only direct flight from Milan Malpensa to Beijing International Airport, to begin operation from 15 June 2011 The service will run three direct flights a week on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday departing at 9 p.m. and arriving at 7 p.m.

The route will be operated using Airbus A330s which offer 206 economy class and 34 business class seats, comfortable new furnishings and video on demand entertainment for all passengers. To mark the inauguration of the direct Milan – Beijing flight, a special reduced fare starting from €300 + taxes will be available from 15 June to 30 July 2011.

“With this new route, which we hope will soon add more flights to respond to the steadily growing demand, Italy becomes Air China’s second busiest hub, ahead of the United Kingdom and France,” stated Them Jiang, Managing Director of Air China Europe. “The new route represents just the first phase in an evolving strategy that places Italy and its business potential in the European market at its centre. Our aim is to offer a competitively priced product with an emphasis on security and quality service, and above all to become a vital link between Europe and the rest of the world. Air China Cargo New Route

Air China Cargo has launched its new route between China and Milan Malpensa Airport. The new service will operate Shanghai Beijing Vienna Milan Malpensa three times a week.

It is also the third cargo service between China and Europe, joining services from Beijing to Frankfurt and Copenhagen.

The new service runs from Shanghai to Milan Malpensa via Beijing and Vienna, and then returns to Shanghai. It will run three times a week with a single carriage capacity of 110 tons.

Gu Dongfeng, deputy general manager of Air China Cargo, told Xinhua the new cargo service would consolidate China European trade in the long term and help both sides improve the investment environment, promote economic growth and employment, and liberalize and integrate their economies and trade.

Air China Cargo, established in 2003, is now a global specialized cargo airline which was ranked No.15 in 2008 world’s best cargo airlines.

Air China provides air freight transportation services to 44 international destinations and to 81 cities across China, Air China Cargo operates six B747-400 freighters, three B747-200Fs and a Tu-204C.

It also has exclusive access to the international air freight capacity provided by the Air China fleet of widebody passenger aircraft.

Air China diverts to Moscow

An Air China flight heading from Milan Malpensa Airport to Beijing with 155 passengers and 18 crew on board was forced to make an emergency landing yesterday at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport.

The Air China Airbus 340-300 aircraft, travelling from Milan Malpensa Airport, had suffered failure in one of its engines, the crew requested an immediate emergency landing in Russia.

85 Passengers continued their journey to China later that day on an Aeroflot flight, with the remainder travelling on today.
